Blog 1 Thoughts after watching the visual creative work

I was fortunate to watch the incredible content shared by the visual editor of the New York Times and Avatar Robot Cafe, which are brought great ideas and inspiration to my professional career. First of all, as Tracy mentioned a point that may often be overlooked, that is called visual ideas. My understanding is creative point. The source of these inspirations needs to be reflected in a visual way, such as images, photographs or videos, and these visual contents often come from the life around them. Therefore, I think how to discover these visual creative points is a crucial part. Second, visual ideas are not enough. In addition, Tracy also mentioned visual language. As we all know, language can convey information and is the most intuitive way of expression in human life. Basically, visual language is a creative process that transforms inspiration into language. In this process, there must have research and creation, and a series of images are used to convey information to users, which are presented in a more intuitive and interesting way. Finally, Tracy mentioned making people feel, and this is exactly combined the concept of the Avatar Robot Café. Seeing the case of this cafe reminded me my favorite poster design for the Incheon Asian Games (see Figure 1). It can be seen that the people on the poster are doing sports postures and the use of bright colors conveys the passionate sports concept of the Asian Games. No matter what form of design, it must convey some information to people. Robots operated by the disabled people serve humans, allowing humans to feel the story behind the robots and arouse empathy from the audience. Emotional experience and empathy are the places that resonate most easily. A good design must be a design for users. I think the designer is the person who tells the story, then the user is the person who listens to the story. So the content on these two videos gave me great inspiration. I clearly understand that the first inevitable element in communication design is visual ideas, which are the driving force for our artistic creation. The second indispensable is visual language, this step is more difficult, because the professional skills must be transformed into a language that the public understands. The last and most important point is to serve design in life. Through emotional resonance and understanding, made a truly soulful design. So that people can love and enjoy, maybe this is the real credit of the visual designer.
