In this project, I chose skiers and mountaineers as the target groups. First, I did the PACT survey, as shown in Figure 1.
Second, I did the persona representing target users.(see figure 2)
With this basic research in hand, I used the data and design inspiration to make an initial sketch on Sketchbook. These manuscripts are very rough, but they can express some of my ideas. (see figure 3)
In the prototype design step, I personally made the paper film of the mobile phone. I chose the iPhone 12, the latest version of Apple’s mobile phone. As shown in Fig. 4, I logged into Apple’s official website and made the model according to the accurate data provided.
I named this weather app “Temoun”, which covers the words of temperature and mountains. As an outdoor sports enthusiast of skiing and mountaineering, you must not miss this app. In addition to predicting the weather, this app also adds voice control and motion control broadcast functions, suitable for people who are skiing and climbing. Also you can log in to the app to view locations recommended by other users for outdoor play, as well as weather strategies and warm tips. The biggest advantage of this application is that it is not cumbersome, and outdoor athletes don’t have much time to look at their mobile phones. Therefore, simplicity and strong contrast are the design styles of this app. Unlocking the screen and touching the screen for 3 seconds to check the body temperature and other functions will also bring convenience to users.
For details, please watch the prototyping video.
The following is a collection of secondary research on this subject, as supplementary material.
The above is all the process of my project 3. I think the process from research to design framework is very interesting. This is also my first attempt to make a paper prototype, which greatly tests my practical ability. In short, it will also help my future design.
