I was assigned the lyrics of Kate Tempest’s Parables, and another video was Kate’s live speech about this poem. The following screenshots are screenshots of this video content.
These pictures flashed on the screen from time to time, some pictures that may look dark, such as people with big mouths, beasts, hearts and bleeding, etc. In poetry, the words I pay more attention to are law, justice, prison, poor people, money and so on. In the first half of the poem, some people feel depressed and desperate, but in the second half, they can feel strength, such as the key words of kindness, faith and steering. My understanding is just like the phrase “lost truth” in the lyrics. No matter what the truth is, we will still believe that the world will become a better place.
As for brief’s understanding, I think it is best to create a “new type” book according to the selected lyrics, which is entertaining and interactive. If it is a physical book, it may be different from the common books in the form of books, and if it is an e-book, it may be better in interactivity. Some of my inspiration comes from the e-books in the research process, such as some e-books on Kindel, and some e-books from various creative websites, some of which are even more similar to games and animation. My primary research mainly comes from an exhibition I visited in London 180, a large-scale installation exhibition by artist Ryoji Ikeda, which includes the personification of data existing in the universe and the resonance between high-frequency sound waves and people’s hearts. My final product is an electronic music book, which is suitable for young people and middle-aged people who love electronic poisons, including those who always suffer from insomnia, have strong personal consciousness and like to think. Three episodes of Akira Yamaoka have been added to my book, which is more suitable for hypnosis, and every page has been added with dynamic images. These images are vague and even psychedelic, but they all express different ideas. This book is divided into four sections. The first section is about cities, that is, the changes in people’s lives brought about by the rapid development of today’s cities, and how much capitalist greed exists in the prosperous world. The content of the second section is emptiness. A person without thought means no soul. Who are you? The third section is about blood. When we get value, we always pay a price. What have we sacrificed for our ideals? The last section is about love, which means that although there is no light and no absolute justice and law in the historical process of human development, the only thing we can know is that people are always creatures who pursue love.
